Snowman Week - Day 4

Hello everyone.  Thank you so much for all the kind comments that have been left on my blog.  I surely appreciate your visit.

Today's Snowman day is a gift card holder and a little whatever you want to make it.  First the gift card holder.  MY SILHOUETTE PORTRAIT arrived!!!  Whoo-hoo!!!  I've been having a fun time playing with this.  This little gift card holder could use a little punching up but not bad for the first try with this awesome little machine.

I found this cut file in the Silhouette Online Store.  It took some figuring out and ungrouping and grouping and figuring out the mat.  I would have to say that I am not a fan of the clear cutting mat and that there are no grid numbers in the software on the virtual cutting mat.  That would've been helpful, but I eventually got it.  This is not the original face it comes with.  The tip on the cut file says to use the sketch pens to draw the face on first.  I don't have those so I deleted them from the file and used my punches to create the eyes and mouth.  But this is pretty darn cute.  As I said, I could've spruced it up a bit more, but it's all to come as I learn more and more about this machine.

Next up is the whatever you want it to be.  I found these on You Tube and thought they'd be really fun to make.

Let me give you a tip - listen to "them" when they say color the beads with a Sharpie.  Coloring with a Copic lead to a huge mess!  See the smudge - yeah well, we're pretending it's coal dust.    Now what do I mean it could be what you want?  Well, add some ribbon or string to the top and it's an ornament.  Glue on a pin back and it's a fun broach.  Glue on a magnet and you can decorate your refrigerator.

These are some super quick gift ideas that I hope you'll try out.  By the way, you don't have to own a Silhouette to create a cute gift card holder - but it sure made it easy!  Have a great day.
