Thursdays with Lindsay

Good Morning! I am so giddy with excitement to share with you today!! I don't remember if I shared that hubby, well the kids, gave me a Slice for Christmas. I decided I didn't like it very much, so I sent it back. What I got to replace it was SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software. My Mom bought a Cricut years ago when it was first introduced. But we didn't learn a whole lot about it. Made a few basic things, collected a few cartridges - but it pretty much just sat around and collected dust.

Well, I've been seeing these cool things on Lindsay's blog and Tamara's blog called SVG cuts. So I asked if I could get this software that will let you cut from your computer to your Cricut. I finally got it, set it up and did all the other little things to get this going and after only one failed attempt, I got it to work. It was a good thing no one was around because I'm sure if there had been, I would've been committed. My dog doesn't care, she's too happy to stay wrapped up in her blanket. So here's the first card I made:

My first shaped card ever!! Lindsay told me about a site (here) that has TrueType fonts for free and to grab this particular one because it's dingbats for all these super shapes. It's just a little smaller than a standard size card and eventually I will get the proper measurements figured out. The images are from Lindsay's newest set called Love Grows Here.

Lindsay also offers these really cool SVG's to use with your Cricut and SCAL. Not to worry if you don't have these things, because she also sends a template for printing so you can cut them out. So she has a new mailbox SVG that I just had to try.

Adorable, right?! What a super idea for little packaging for a gift to give to a loved one, friend, teacher - whoever! Love this kind of happy mail!

Don't forget to visit Lindsay and the rest of the team. I'm certain everyone will have wonderful eye-candy for you. Oh and today is the last day for a challenge Lindsay is having. Here's what she says about it:

***Just a Reminder that you have until Thursday to enter our Recycled Challenge: make a card with a digital stamp and a recycled item then post a link to your card on my blog or in the What’s digital Stamping yahoogroup. I will put everyone’s name in a hat and pick a winner to get a stamp set of their choice form Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff! Please join the fun!***

Thanks for stopping by!

I was sooooo envious, lol...... so I worked at my craft room yesterday and at least made room for a permanent (out in the open) spot for my Expression :-). Love your shaped card and that mailbox is adorable.

Cute; love that shape! I, too, have a Cricut and it just sits there unused. You make the SCAL sound so tempting; however I am not too techic....
