The Digi Shack Challenge

Here's my 2nd post for the day.

Have you heard of The Digi Shack? This is a company owned by a really nice lady named Toni and has some awesome awesome images. Joni is one of the Design Team Members. Anyway, there's been a release party all week with challenges, contest and prizes!

I made this card for their color challenge and it's also fitting for one of my very good friends at work. He's retiring soon and I know he'll love this. I am really going to miss him... I love this man so much, if I were to have ever been able to pick out who my father could be, he would've been it. The color combo is dark brown, navy blue, white/ivory and kraft. So I used kraft, Not Quite Navy and this great digi-paper that I got for free from A Cherry On Top.

I CASEd this card from a tutorial that I found on You Tube - it's from a Hero Arts video. This is the easiest slider card ever and it doesn't involve a grocery bag. So simple and I love simple. This video also offers a couple of other techniques that I am itching to try.

The image is intended for Father's Day, but I think it works great for my retirement sentiment. I printed the image twice. First on white card stock and then again on the blue mottled paper. I cut the chair and ottoman out of the blue. I colored the rest of the image with prismacolor markers (Dark Green, Eggshell, Warm Gray 10% and Buff), then did the paper piecing. Then pulled out my Nestabilities to create the layers. Added a few buttons and a rhinestone flower that I received from the very first Color Me Happy swap Joni hosted. Viola! Done in about 20 minutes.

I hope you like my card.

This image is hilarious and goes so well with your sentiment! What a fun slider technique, too -- I'll have to check out that tutorial. TFS!
