Tuesday Morning Sketches #565

Hello!  Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and even though I say this every week, it really is a fun one.  I actually designed this sketch with a specific die in mind.

My card features Arch Tag Dies by Pink and Main.  This is the die I had in mind when I made this sketch.  It also features the June Large DOM by Spellbinders.  I did some simple watercolor smooshing on the background.  I used Ranger watercolor paper and Speckled Egg, Dried Marigold and Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide inks.  I used them for the smooshing and the springs and buds on the flowers.  The gold mirror card stock came from Ellen Hutson.

The sentiment, I featured on last week's card, it came from the Flowering Cistus stamps and dies.  I cut the word you out twice.  From the gold mirror card and white card that I colored with Speckled Egg ink.

Here you can see the shine of the mirror card stock and how I finished off each bud with just a tiny drop of white Nuvo Drops.

My second card, this features on the front stitched rectangle dies from Pink and Main, a butterfly die from a past Small DOM from Spellbinders and a pop-up butterfly design from Lori Whitlock that I got on the Silhouette online store.  I also went crazy with drops of Nuvo Crystal Drops.

The sentiment is from a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.  The butterfly I cut from black, light and dark turqoise and light and dark purple card stock.  I inlaid all the little pieces.  I did this to pretty match the big butterfly on this inside of the card.

This is a 5x7 card so you can imagine just how big this butterfly is.  I think I've already worn it out opening and closing the card so often!  LOL  It's just so pretty.

I hope to see you over at the TMS Blog - please come join the challenge and be sure to leave lots of love for the team.  Thanks for your visit.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #564

Hello!  I guess I completely forgot to create my post.  I have no idea how that happened.  Thank goodness I have Debbie looking after me!

The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and I think it’s a good one.  My intention was to have this be for a single layer card but you really could dress this up however you’d like.  My card features the Flowering Cistus stampedbym and die set and the Love Stripes embossing folder from Fun Stampers Journey.

I hope you’ll join us for the challenge.  Be sure to stop by the blog to leave some love for the team.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #563

Hello!  Thank you so much for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's just a great sketch.  Very classic elements.

This card features the July Small DOM by Spellbinders.

I decided I needed to try some easy watercolor techniques.  I'm not great at it and I ended up with something that looks like water.  That wasn't my intention but it's pretty anyway!  On the circle mat I used Essential Glimmer Circles with some silver foil.  The sentiment is Everyday Sentiments II Glimmer plates.  It's hard to see the shine of the foil in the photograph, but it's so pretty in person.

This card was fun to make.  Still very primitive with my watercolor, but I guess that's okay.

I do hope to see you over at the TMS blog and that you'll join in our challenge.  Leave the team some love while you're there, too.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #562

Hello!  And thank you for stopping by.  Do we have a special week this week for Tuesday Morning Sketches!  It is on this very day 11 years ago that I posted the very first sketch.  Yes!  TMS is 11 years old.  I can't believe how quickly time flies.  I remember talking to an old crafty friend, Melyssa Connelly months before I started TMS, telling her how much I admired her for being able to draw card sketches.  She said she knew I could do it, too.  Then with some other encouragement from another crafty friend, Tami Mayberry, I started to work on building TMS.  My sisters were my first design team.  There have been many talented ladies on this team and I am thankful to each of them for helping me keep TMS alive and inspiring others.

It's only fitting that on this 11th birthday that we dust off the very first sketch.  Let's play with it again!  My card features the June Mini Delight - Victorian stamp set.  This is a layering set of two stamps to make this adorable house.  I also used Washi Patterns stamp set by MFT that probably retired like 5 years ago.  I also used a little heart die by Pink & Main and Sentiment Strips die by Avery Elle.  The card stock is Pale Plum and Perfect Plum by Stampin' Up!.

It's a fun little card.  I really wanted a sentiment that lent to our current situation as COVID-19 still messes up life plans.  But I gave up and used the little hello in the Mini Delight stamp set.

I do hope I'll see you over at the TMS blog.  Be sure to leave the team some love and while you're there, you might as well play along.  We have 6 prizes for our US players only.  One of them is the new Tim Holtz travel platform.
