Sunday Bliss

Good Morning!  I love it when we can change the clocks back an hour.  I feel like the day lasts longer, I feel like I've slept in but I'm actually up at a decent hour and it's Sunday.... my day to play!

This card that I have to share with you today, I made yesterday for my friend's youngest son who turned 10.  He was very specific about what he wanted me to do for him for his birthday.  Remember the little tealight birthday cake I made a few weeks back?  Well, he wanted one of those and a card.  Oh, and I had to make him dinner.  He was really cute last night, I made him a real birthday cake .... I made a bundt cake.  He tells me "Miss Melissa, I always wanted a donut cake."   * smile *

So here's my card....

The sketch over at Just Us Girls called for a triangle card.  Hmmm.... what to do with that.  Well, I thought birthday hat!  So I found a template somewhere (my apologies to the person who did come up with this) and couldn't figure out how to download it, but it was simple enough to figure out (see mine below).

My card also works for a challenge blog I just found.... Birthday Sundaes.  This week's challenge is to include birthday wording on the front of the card.

And let's zoom in a little bit to see my details.  After creating the card base, I did have a little trouble figuring out the size of paper to cover the front with.  I started off with the orange polka dot paper and that was too narrow (and the last of what I had) so I added strips until it was right.  I like how my boo-boo turned out to be a happy mistake because it really added some fun and dimension to the card.  So we can say... I meant to do that!  LOL

OK, so here's the general template.  Cut out a circle and then score in a triangle.  I did this by lightly drawing the lines with a pencil and ruler until the "sides" were about equal.  Using my Scor-Pal, I scored.  This card will hold itself closed using the same concept as the over/under thing one does with a cardboard box when wanting it closed without tape.  I hope that makes sense.  I wish I'd taken a picture of the back, but I was short on time.

Supplies:
Card stock:  Neenah Classic Crest, Brilliant Blue, Orange
Paper:  Orange (open stock Michaels), Citrus Matstack (DCWV)
Image:  Clown (Ildi)
Copics:  B05, R02, R27, R29, YG06, YR16, YR68
Tools:  Coluzzle circle template, scallop punch, Circle cutter (CM), Scallop Circle Nesties, Scor-Pal,
Dot Border Punch (Martha Stewart), white gel pen
Embellishments:  Ribbon

Anyway, it's a fun card.  I had fun making it and the birthday boy was very happy!  All is good.  Thanks for stopping by.

This is adorable! I love your "mistakes"! It took me a minute or two to figure out how to create this shape too! I used my Cricut and some welding. Thanks for playing with Just Us Girls!

PS...Thanks for the reminder about turning the clocks back. I totally forgot! And I could have had that extra hour to sleep! Sigh...
