Tuesday Morning Sketches #261

Hello friends.  I do hope you're doing well.  I had an interesting commute home yesterday.  I was on the 417 Toll Expressway and got a flat tire. It looks like someone actually stabbed my tire!  I'm sure that's not really what happened, but that's what it looked like.  I am so tired of car issues - they're all happening at once.  I went in one day to get an oil change and came out with the oil change, new wiper blades and new rear brakes.  I'm not arguing, all were needed.  Then the calipers were locking up.  So I had those replaced.  Then the air conditioning died and that'll be about $1000 to fix.  And then the headlight went out - thankfully that was $20 light bulb change.  And now my tire.  I knew I was going to need new tires anyway, but I was really hoping for another 6 months out of them.  Oh well....  The bright side is, it's still a great car and it's paid for.  This is all maintenance and let's face it, the car is 12 years old.

Anyway, let's talk about fun stuff.  This week's sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's a CAS one... or a jumping off point for something really decorated.  It depends on your perception.  I chose to go nearly literal with the sketch and kept it pretty easy.

Honestly, I wasn't going for Valentine's Day (bleeecch), but that's sort of how it ended up looking.  I love this red though.  I used Roasted Red Pepper card stock from Raisin Boat (my favorite), a bit of paper from the Love matstack.  The heart is a retired stamp from a set by MFT Stamps and I made the butterfly using a Prima mulberry flower.  The stamp was stamped using Schoolhouse Red by Simon Says Stamp.  I'm not sure I'm impressed with their reds.  I bought two, Schoolhouse Red and Lipstick Red.  Stamped side by side, they look exactly the same.  And they stained by stamps, permanently.  Which I guess is OK, but....

Head on over to the TMS blog and join us for this week's challenge.  I hear that CASual Fridays challenge is on hiatus... this will help you with your CAS fix.

The design on your banner and on your heart make this a very elegant looking card. I so like your color palette. It was fun seeing how each of the DT used this sketch. I ESPECIALLY liked your creative touch of making a butterfly out of the Prima flower. It made a wonderful touch!

UGH CARS. So necessary & so expensive.
I really love the *gah* lovey card you created - especially that brilliant butterfly!
And I have to laugh at the spam above - Semen. Yeah, no one would ever suspect that wasn't a real name.

What an elegant card! Love the scroll work on the heart! Beautiful! Well it sounds like your car should be set for a while now! Lucky for me I married into a mechanical family, my husband and both brother in laws are all very mechanical, saves a lot when it comes to repairs!
