My final stroll down the Blvd. and an Annoucement

Happy Sugar Saturday!

It's time for another challenge with Modern Sugar Blvd., and this week it's brought to you by me! So the challenge is to create a shaped card. Not the normal shape - the 4.25 x 5.5 card is a classic, but let's morph it! Here's my take on it, and yes, it's sort of a rectangle - but it's cute!



My card is actually a gift card/money holder. I dusted off a Coluzzle template of file folders. Then I decorated it with papers from a Basic Grey paper stack that was given to me. I used one of my favorite digi-images from Modern Sugar Blvd. found here.


The inside view, I have a strip of paper that is adhered along the sides but left "open" in the center to fit a gift card or money. I hope you join in the challenge and don't forget to visit the other Sugars, I've seen some really shapely cards!!

I said I had an announcement. As my DT term ends with Modern Sugar Blvd., I've been accepted as a Design Team Member for MyGrafico Challenge blog and I couldn't be more excited! This card is what I made to play along with Challenge #10 - a color challenge Brown and Teal. I found this card idea on Dawn's Stamping Thoughts. I've mentioned her a time or two (or more) on my blog.

I don't even remember what she called this card - but it's a slider card. This image is a FREE image on MyGrafico and it is so much fun!



Slide the top portion up and reveal the hidden message inside. Cute! I used a sentiment from the new Unity KOTM set. Now that I've made this card, I see so many possibilities for it. Embossing... other stamping... more embellishments. Whooo-hooo!!

Sugar Saturday Challenge

No, I'm just teasin' her - she's sweet and she came up with a great sketch and color challenge. Here's my take on it...

Have you guessed it? Yep! It's purples (any shade will do), black and/or white. I used them all. I used Lavender Lace and Lovely Lilac, white and black. I printed a sentiment directly onto the Lavender Lace cardstock - easy! The image I used is from MSB's the Twinkle Toe's collection.

Saturday Sugar Challenge

Every Saturday Modern Sugar Blvd. issues a challenge. The DT members get to a host a challenge and this one is brought to you by Joni. Easy challenge, just use a tag somewhere on your card.



I had originally planned this card differently and I couldn't make it work, but these are the results I ended with and I am pleased. This card uses one of my favorite lines in the Modern Sugar Blvd collection, this is called Welcome Home by super talented artist Pam West.

Did you catch the New Releases??

Yesterday was another big day on The Boulevard - Modern Sugar Blvd., that is. In order to catch them all, go visit here, but let me share what I made for the release.

This is Sports Mama and she's ready for it all! I liked that this image incorporated so many sports but it left me with a dilemma - what to do with it! So then it hit me... what's the next best thing to Game Day? The food!! So I found this yummy dip recipe on All Recipes.com and made my own recipe card.



What doesn't go better than bacon and eggs? Mmmm - and this image is so cute! It's one of a couple of breakfast favorites perfectly paired. I used a free digi-paper design from GinaK in hopes of giving the impression of a napkin. I had a scrap of the gingham paper, so the napkin and tablecloth are featured a little backwards, but it's a fun card! Just look at their sweet faces - they really are meant to go together.



I love this image! It is the perfect little boy image ever! And it made the easiest boy birthday card. I found the flags by googling them and got so deep into coloring images, I don't even remember where this came from. But they worked great with my card. I made the sentiment on my computer and pop-dotted it over the flags. The image is colored with prismacolor pencils and OMS.

This card was sooo easy to put together with the cute Doodler... I'm Here digi-stamp and the great GinaK digi-paper. I created the sentiment on the computer and added a few buttons to add a touch of whimsy.

Modern Sugar Blvd. - New Release

Good morning. It's a very over-cast day outside, but it's nice and cool which is a bit of a relief from yesterday's heat.

I told you yesterday that I had another MSB new release to share with you. This is another Doodle Girl, which I really enjoy that particular line.



We never have enough birthday cards do we! This is All Together and her arms are to embrace anything you put in them. I gave her a cupcake to hold. I used a little cupcake image from a Papertrey Ink set, Limitless Labels. The b/w background paper you've seen me use before, it's free digi-paper from Close to my Heart. The pink background paper is from a monthly kit, so I'm not sure what it is. It's cute. The sentiment is also from Papertrey Ink.

Modern Sugar Blvd. challenge & Releases

Hi everyone! Happy Saturday! I hope you're doing well - we had a heck of a thunderstorm roll thru here last night. Whew!

I have to admit that I dropped the new release ball! I completely forgot to post my cards that feature some of the newest digi's from Modern Sugar Blvd. that were released yesterday. And it's also time for a new challenge - that I am on time for.

First let me share one of my cards that I really loved putting together.


No, it's not because I'm anxious for the kids to go back to school. I will very soon be unemployed and am looking forward to spending some of the summer with my kids. I liked this because one of my favorite people, my sister, is a teacher. The chalkboard is new, too, and was really fun to play with. And since there was still some lined notebook paper leftover from the school year, it provided the perfect background dp.

I'll feature my other card on Sunday. So onto the Saturday Challenge brought you by Valerie...



This this a sketch challenge - Valerie creates some awesome sketches for us to use! Her hard work makes for easy inspiration for us DT members. Be sure to visit the MSB blog for all the details. I used Pink Pirouette (I'm really going miss that pink) that I embossed with Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, I altered the original digi by cropping the awareness ribbon that is above the doodle-girl's hand so that I could make it bigger and added a little heart in it's place. She's colored with Prismacolor Markers. I then finished the card with big bling!

I have to laugh, it just occurred to me that this entire blog post is dedicated to my sister Theresa... the school teacher... the breast cancer survivor. So Theresa, I applaud you for your accomplishments.

Modern Sugar Blvd. Challenge

Hi - happy Saturday! I'm writing this in advance, so I'm really not here! I am at my daughter's recital. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

Today is another great challenge over at Modern Sugar Blvd. This one was Brandi's idea and a great idea at that!



The challenge is a sketch challenge and it must have flowers. This was so easy for me because I knew right away that I wanted to use one of my absolute favorite digi-images. This is in the Around the Town line, the Flower Shop. Such an adorable image. I love the color palette I chose, too, so bright and cheery. I can't wait to see what you make!

New Releases Challenge

Happy Saturday!

I first need to explain why my blog has been neglected a bit lately. This past week was VBS for the kids. Now, why will my blog continue to be neglected? Because today starts the horrific week of endless and everyday rehearsals for recital. I will do the best I can in stamping when I can and get it posted. I'm bummed, I even had a card ready for Friday Sketchers and I missed posting it in time. They've got another great sketch up though.



This week's challenge for Modern Sugar Blvd. is to use the great garden image that just released and to make a #10 size card. The measurements are 7 1/2 by 9 1/4, score at 3 3/4. I found some old dp that I had stashed away, this being from Stampin' Up! distressed wood collection, and used it for my background. I colored The Potting Shed with prismacolor markers. Are you ready to party??

OK, the release party starts soon! Here's my final sneak peek and this is a tribute to my sister who is a breast cancer survivor.



I used a sketch that I found on Card Patterns. It's a great sketch - I turned it a bit. I also made it for the challenge group I belong to. The technique was faux webbing. I failed! I didn't like this technique - but I do love this new image.

Another peek into the Release

Hi All, I've got another late post for you. Here's another project to share with you featuring another great digi that is being released tomorrow!

Do you remember bomb pops? I loved these when I was a kid!! I remember staying at my Uncle Chris' house and me and my cousins would get to walk up to this little store for candy or bomb pops. Yummy! Now this popsicles image would put a smile on anyone's face! Aren't they cute! I had this fun dp left over from one of the monthly card groups and I added some sugared brads for a bit of fun.

Preview for Modern Sugar Blvd. Release

Hi All!

There are some great new digi stamps coming from Modern Sugar Blvd. this week - in fact, the release date is June 11th! I'm a little late in posting, so I apologize. This week is VBS week for the kids and I re-arranged my work schedule, so I go in at 7:00 which leaves me no time to read email, do some blogging or blurfing!



This is BBQ Momma and she's ready to grill up a storm for you! I created this table topper as a welcome for our cookout guests. The grill on the front is not an MSB image, I found it as part of a coloring page image that I edited and tweeked and added it to my project. The "Welcome" part is generated using a word program and a cool font. The paper I used is from a GinaK digi-paper pack that is free to her StampTV members.

BTW, my sister Karin, is the inspiration of this table topper. She sent the most amazing free-standing pop-up card that was her contribution to the monthly group cards for May. Her version is classy and cute and is a true card. My topper will not compress into a card since I permanently adhered it.

Something Old, Something New....

The picture is terrible, no matter how I tried to edit it, I could not get the color right. I apologize. Something old - we're pretending she's wearing Grandma's pearls, something new - the digi, something borrowed - ribbon I was given in a swap, something blue - the card. Challenges & Contests

Happy Saturday! It's a really beautiful day here in WV. The skies are blue, it's not hot and there's a bit of a breeze. The kids are outside playing and I'm getting to stamp for a while.

The first project I want to share with you is a contest that ends today over at Paper Makeup Stamps. Katie had released a beautiful image called A Fairy for Kayleigh - the proceeds of the sale of this digi will be given to the Freeman family. They recently placed Kayleigh in the arms of Jesus as her time here on earth had come to an end.


My next project that I want to share with you, its not only is it a release day for Modern Sugar Blvd., it's time for DT Challenge #4. Modern Sugar Blvd - Sugarlicious Release Day

Did I just say the word Sugarlicious!? Ack! OK, I have to admit this: My nails on the chalkboard idiosyncrasy is any prefix word to -licious (except de) drives me insane! So does prefix+rex+ster. My hubby and his cousin used to use that one incessantly!! Urrrghh!! LOL

But anyway, Modern Sugar Blvd. is releasing some really awesome images this weekend and another challenge! So here we go...



This is Precious Hippie Chic. I made this card last night and it really was a challenge for me. I am so not 60s and 70s retro, but she's got a sweet face and reminded me of my niece who would love this card!


This is 'I Can Do It' and she is so adorable. The image does come with a lower half of her anatomy and her other arm is holding a tool box but I absolutely love her face. She's so lovely that I felt I needed to zoom in on that. I fixed up this notebook that I picked up at the dollar store. I thought this would be really nice to have around to enter notes and measurements and maybe even swatches for home improvement stuff. With the housing market as it is, people are fixing up what they already have instead of buying new.


And last, but not least, is my altered cookie sheet message center. I saw this idea on Heather's blog and loved it. I still have to have the holes drilled in the top for ribbon to hang this up - but other than that, I think it's pretty cute. The upper portion is a chore calendar and when I saw the Stacking Up image that was the first thing of I thought of to use this digi on. My oldest son saw it and said "oh man! Now we have lists!" LOL The lower portion is foam core board covered with this cute bee fabric I've had in a drawer. The flowers are magnets that I put together with some jumbo flowers. The letters are from a Cuttlebug set of alpha-dies.

Friday Feature

Hi - Happy Friday! Whoo-hoo - I just love short weeks!

We'll start today's entry with Hollyanne's Friday Feature card... she has some really great ideas in the works but she didn't have enough time tonight to work on them. She only had 15 minutes to bedtime so she created a simple and very cute card in minutes that I know any one of her little friends would love to receive. I think it's going to her pen-pal.



She finished it and showed it me and my question was "what stamp is that?" LOL That girl knows more of what's in my collection than I do! This is Lizzie Ann stamp set. The sentiment is from a leftover package of rub-ons that she asked if she could have. And (Gabby are you listening?) I can't keep that girl out of my Prismacolor Markers! She said that she can't wait until I discover better markers 'cause then she'll get the prismas. Haha!

OK and for my Friday feature... Be on the look out for new releases over at Modern Sugar Blvd. We were told we didn't have to sneak peek, particularly if one didn't get their projects done until the day before they were due... ahem!


In a way this is a sneak peek 'cause this in only a portion of the project. Come back tomorrow for a better look.

The color combo is pink, brown and ivory. I missed the mark on ivory but I'm happy with my card anyway. I love this cupcake image from Modern Sugar Blvd. The dp is free digi-paper from GinaK Designs (Neapolitan 2). I used Prismacolor Markers (Deco Pink, Light Mocha, Violet Mist, Canary Yellow and Yellow-Orange) to color the image and then dabbed on a bit of stickles. I'm running out - my daughter keeps using up my stickles!! LOL The solid mats are Pink Pirouette. The most absolute perfect pink ever!!

Mini-Release Today!

Another post - this one has to be quick. Modern Sugar Blvd. is having a mini-release today and these images are soooo cute!!!



This is So Charming - and she's sooo adorable! I just love her wild hair and sassy personality. My card sentiment is Muy Caliente and she is all that! LOL I freehanded the flames - my daughter said I should have had one of the boys do it 'cause boys are good with flames. I love the bright colors - they're so spicy!



This is I Love My PDA. My card is clean and simple and features her lovely face. With digi's you get to decide on the size of the image and I wanted to focus on her face. Cute!
