Happy Friday, or as Joni said, Happy Free-Day!!

Hollyanne will be back next week since today is the last day of school and she'll have time on her hands to really spend with her stamping.

Father & Son

I found this beautiful poem on Poems For Free.com written by Nicholas Gordon. This is so beautiful for Father's Day that I wanted to share it with you since that special day is fast approaching.

A little boy needs Daddy
For many, many things:
Like holding him high off the ground
Where the sunlight sings!

Like being the deep music
That tells him all is right
When he awakens frantic with
The terrors of the night.

Like being the great mountain
That rises in his heart
And shows him how he might get home
When all else falls apart.

Like giving him the love
That is his sea and air,
So diving deep or soaring high
He'll always find him there.

I really wanted to incorporate that poem, or at least part of it, as my sentiment for this card, but I just didn't have enough space. However, there is an entire inside space of the card that it'll fit perfectly!



My friend Joni has started drawing again, a passion she had put on the backburner until her sweet hubby bought her one of those drawing pads for computers. She's drawing again and doing a fabulous job. Please visit her Inktegrity blog to see what she's been up to. There are some fabulous cards already posted from Tammy and Sheri. This Daddy and Son image is one of her newest and I am so thrilled and honored that she let me play with one.

I cropped the image so that I had Dad's upper body with his son. I colored the image with Prismacolor Markers. The background is a coloring page I found on the internet that worked so well with this image of Daddy taking his little man to the park. The sentiment I created myself and punched out using the tag punch from SU! and then finally added a little bit of texture with paper piercing.

I hope I made Joni proud.

Oh one more thing - I roughly followed this week's sketch challenge from Craft 4 Eternity. I can't use it as a participating entry because the other part of the challenge is to use purples/violets. So... since it's such a great sketch, I'll have to just make another.

This is the other card I have to share with you - the one I mentioned yesterday. This owl, I believe is a JessicaLynn image and so adorable.



I really love this set that I got from The Greeting Farm, it's called For Someone. I believe it's still available, I bought it on clearance and it's great! I don't do too many masculine cards so this was super fun to do.

I have some exciting news to share, too! I have been accepted to be a member of the Design Team for a new company that will launch tomorrow called Sunshine & Giggles. Is that not the cutest name ever? They specialize in African-American children stamps. The images are so sweet and all about childhood. --They are just wonderful.

Monkeying Around

Hi! Happy Monday!

I received the kits for two of my monthly card groups over the weekend and at first glance of the images and showing them to my son, I said "what the heck am I going to with these!" My son responded "good luck with that!" And then laughed hysterically. But I showed him... here's one of my cards.



The fun polka dot ribbon was included in the kit which I'm sure I've told you all before that two of my favorite colors are lime green and polka dots. Yes, in my world, polka dots are colors. LOL This little Changitos monkey is so cute - I only have one set with this little guy and I don't play with it nearly enough, I think I'll have to remedy that soon.

Anyway, I colored with Prismacolor markers and they really do take on a different strength (if you will) when the image is stamped on Ultrasmooth card stock. I'm not sure if the card stock is SU! or GinaK - but I think it looks great!

This is the last week of school and Brendan is off to Hershey Park, field day for Hollyanne and then pool parties for both Hollyanne and Levi tomorrow. He had a field trip this past Friday which turned traumatic for him when my mother who was chaperoning, passed out from heat exhaustion. They are both OK now.




PS - Brendan was the first to say that he thought my cards turned out great. I'll share the other one tomorrow.

Friday Sketchers Blog

Hi - I have another card to share! As I said, I hit Saturday and Sunday pretty hard on the blog and then it tapers off again. Doesn't that pretty much tell you what I do on weekends!? LOL

OK so I was perusing Jackie's blog when I saw a name of another blog that sounded interesting. I have gotten so into sketches lately - I do wish I could up with some on my own. I would love to start a challenge blog with sketches, but since there are so many... Anyway, so I clicked the link to Friday Sketchers Blog and found this great sketch to play with.



I stayed very true to the sketch, not changing any part of the layout. I used my new set that I just got from Sweet n Sassy. In that order I also got a package of Neenah cardstock. LOVE it!! It runs great thru my printer for digi's and it holds the color of Prismacolor markers with no bleeding! How awesome is that! Anyway the dp is from an old Spring paper pack from Stamin' Up! - the sentiment came in the Sweet n Sassy set. I layered the two prima flowers and ended up with a jonquil but I like it!

Anyway, it was a very fun sketch.

My time is up...

Hi Everyone! Happy Sunday!

Today is my very last posting as a DT Member for the Corrosive Challenge blog. I can't believe how time has just flown by! I want to take this time to thank Janet for inviting me to be one of the members of her first design team. It has been such an honor and so much fun!

So today's challenge is a card I wish I hadn't had to put into use. Today's challenge is to create a Sympathy card. I used a digi-image from The Digi Shack and since I live so near DC, the sweet Cherry Blossoms are familiar.



This was a really easy card to make. I printed the digi out on white card stock and colored using inks and blender pens and adhered to the inside of the card stock. Then I cut the window with a Nestabilities die, added primas and ribbon. I stamped the sentiment in Almost Amethyst and it didn't photograph well.
