Color My Heart Color Dare #568

Hello!  Thank you for your visit.  This week's Color My Heart Color Dare #568 is up and ready to go!

For my card, I saw this very cool technique on Instagram where someone showed how to make flowers with the Nuvo Drops.  So I wanted to do something similar.  It turned out to be a little messy but still, super cute.  I came as close to the color called Journey as I could with what I have and added pink and green.  I dropped the "journey" color in 5 drops in a circle and then using a pokey tool I stretched the drops out to form petals.  The sentiment is from an old stamp set from Close To My Heart.

My drops don't have the best, fresh from the store consistency because they are kept in a room that isn't very climate controlled - hard to do in an older home in FL, which is why some of the drops got a little goopy.  But overall, I think this is an adorable card.

Please come get colorful with us on the challenge blog.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #726

Hello!  Thank for you stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's a great one.  Some really great elements.

I've been playing with the September '23 Crafty Kit from Tonic Studios - Marshallow Hugs.  Truth is, I can't stop playing with this set!  You'll see a lot of it in the coming days/weeks.  This card I went ALL OUT with the sparkle...

This is a 5x7 card - I had to go big to fit everything I wanted to fit onto this card!  I used silver glitter card and coral card stock from the kit.  The spoon, I put some Nuvo Drops on it to make it a chocolate covered spoon.  The snowflake panel I used both the embellishment mousse and the glacier paste in the kit, too.  The snowflake is stencil from GinaK and the retro design is a stencil in my stash.  I made a saucer from an oval die and then added some pieces from the cup cut out design.

Here's a close up of all that sparkle and the chocolate covered spoon.

I hope to see you over at the TMS blog to join the fun!

Just Playin' Around - FOORRREEE!!!

Just Us Girls said to make a CAS Sports card.  Talk about a challenge!!  So I have to admit that I took to Pinterest for some inspiration.  There was a really cute card that inspired me but it was way too complicated.  So here is my version...

I further challenged myself to use scraps on my table - not to pull out a single thing, other than ink.  This is what I came up with.  Cute retirement card, don't you think?

I'm vying for a Guest position.  Crossing my fingers!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #725

Hello! Thank you for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  If fun, it's easy, I think you'll like it if you just give it a try.

My card features a Hot Foil plate and Layering Stencils from Crafty Meraki.  This is one of my new favorite stores.  I try to buy often but my crafting budget only goes so far.  This set is called Love Forever.

I rarely make 5x7 cards but this set is so huge, an A2 card couldn't contain it's gloriousness....

I took an ivory 5x7 base from Tonic Studios, which is very heavy card stock and hot foiled the image directly on the card.  Never did this before, but the results are fantastic.  Then I hot foiled again on a smaller size card.  This smaller layer I colored using the layering stencils.  I then cut 3 squares out from the colored piece and layered to some gold card stock and then placed on the base.

Check out this shine... it looks like fire!

I think my sister is going to love her birthday card!

Thank you for your visit and we'll see you over at the TMS blog.  Be sure to leave the team some love.

Color My Heart Color Dare #566

Hello!  Thank you for your visit.  This week's Color My Heart Color Dare #566 is up and ready to go!

This is a gorgeous color palette and I could only think of pumpkins.    I did make these myself using oval dies cut from ivory card stock and then colored using ink.  I did ink the edges the brown ink before putting the pumpkins together.

The sentiment is from a Craft Kit by Tonic Studios.  I also used some copper colored metallic card stock to mat the focal panel.

I am so pleased with this card!  I do hope you'll join us.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #724

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by.  I do appreciate your visit.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's a really nice and easy going sketch.

My card this week features dies from the Sept 23 Craft Kit from Tonic Studios called Marshmallow Hugs but there isn't a marshmallow in sight on this card.  This is a really great kit and if you don't subscribe to Tonic Studios Craft Kits, I really urge you to try one.  The cute box they come in is packed with dies, stamps, card stock and extra goodies like embellishment mousse, drops, adhesive.  It's a great bargain.  Enough advertising, although I earn nothing, I just love the products.  Here's my card....

The craft kit is looks like this....

Do you see that cup sitting on top of the blue card stock with tabs on the sides and bottom?  That's the image I used cutting off the tabs.  Then I stamped a decorative design onto the bowl.  I then die cut the "liquid" die from ivory card stock.  Using one of the steam dies I embossed on that little piece and then inked the piece with yellow and brown ink.  I cut a slit so that I could slide in the spoon.  After it was put together I used Nuvo Drops in Buttermilk to make some noodles.

Then I made the crackers by using the Mini Rotary Paper Perforator by Tim Holtz.  I put my card stock on my Scor-Pal Mini and then cut the crackers.  I separated them and then using a paper piercer I punched the holes in the center of the cracker like saltines.  Then inked them a little for depth and shading.

The paper I used is from Pink & Main and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I do hope you'll join us and we'll see you over at the TMS blog.

Just Playin' Around

Hello.  Thanks for stopping by.  I've been playing around with all sorts of things lately, but it seems it's only for design work.  The one thing I have in my life that's purely for fun (and sometimes I make it my design work) is my Card Traders group.  The challenge was to make a Halloween Z fold card.

Challenge accepted!  I pulled out my Silhouette Cameo for some help...

I used cut files for everything except the cat and the pumpkins.  I made the base 11 x 5 1/4 gray card stock.  Then cut a piece of white card stock that measured 5 x 10 3/4 and ink blended Black Soot, Villainous Poison and Stormy Sky Distress Oxide inks.  I did cut a piece of masking paper with a circle die to block off some of the card stock to make a full moon.

I cut out everything in black so it made me wonder should I really do orange pumpkins, but in my world there is a light bulb in the street lamp illuminating the pumpkins as well as the big full moon.  Besides, it's not quite full night so I figured that's why you can see the color of the pumpkins!  LOL  Just go with it.

This also is a type of box card.  I'll be honest, it was inspired by Lori Whitlock's pop up box cards.  I put in a couple of cross bars so that I could add a sentiment that I made on the Cameo.

This is a better look at it.

I don't normally make Halloween cards - it doesn't seem a holiday for card greetings but it was the challenge and it was a lot of fun to make.

Although, the moon isn't the focal point, I am entering this in the Just Us Girls Challenge.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #723

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it by Debbie.  It's a nice, easy going sketch.

My card features Whimsical Magnolia EAP and dies from Crafty Meraki, a stencil and some green embossing powder from Tonic Studios.

I first sponged embossing ink on a panel through a stencil.  Then coated it with this lovely embossing powder called Frayed Leaf.  Which matched the Sea Salt Green cardstock I used on the rectangle piece.  I used black cardstock to mat my pieces to make those colors pop.    I die cut the EAP and then placed on the rectangle panel.  Filling in with some Nuvo Drops.  Then I added some teeny tiny flowers from Nuvo - Apple Flower confetti.  Meant for shaker cards, but I used to embellish my card one little flower at a time.

Well, I was having so much fun with these supplies and I had some leftovers from the EAP die cut that I made this card....

Obviously not this week's sketch, but a pretty card, indeed!  So on black panel I used the same stencil and Carbon Sparkle embossing powder from Tonic Studios.  Filling it in with lots of Nuvo Drops.  I just can't remember which one I used.  I want to say Lemon Twist Dream Drops.

Well, thank you for hanging out with me for a bit.  Now head on over to TMS blog and play along, leave the team some love!

Color My Heart Color Dare #564

Hello!  Thank you for your visit.  This week's Color My Heart Color Dare #564 is up and ready to go!

For my card, I tried to use as many of the 6 colors as I could.  But you only have to choose 3.  I am using Raspberry, Pewter, Grape, Nectarine and Green Apple. My card features dies from Tonic Studios Stamp/Die Club set, arch die from Spellbinders and fence die, uhhh, I'm honestly not sure where it came from.

I'm not sure about the bloom, but challenged myself to use pieces I already had die cut.  So it started with the arch.  That I smeared embellishment mousse on the die cut using Coral Calypso from Tonic Studios.  I had the fence sitting on my table so I added touches of Embellishment Mousse in Snow Storm (watered down).  The grass, bloom, cloud, leaves and floral die were all in the same kit and mostly all of them were already cut.  The sentiment is from the coordinating stamp set.

My card is a little abstract but cheery.  I do hope you'll join us.

Birthstone Challenge September - October

Hello! The newest challenge is up at Birthstone Challenges.  This next 6 weeks is the September-October challenge featuring Sapphires and Opals.

So Opals were a bit difficult for me, I wasn't quite sure how to incorporate so I went with Sapphire.  Easy!

I had a ball making this art journal page.  The base is cut from watercolor paper and I sprayed it using Nuvo Mica Mist in Moonlit Ocean.  I then used the Mandala maker stamp set from GinaK Designs and Tsukineko in Platinum Planet ink to do the stamping.  I also used 3 shades of Nuvo Drops - Platinum, Navy Blue and Midnight Blue.

In this photo, I'm showing the butterfly I made by die cutting from vellum and then coloring using Copic Markers.

And here is the sentiment.  The base piece I colored using the same Nuvo drops and marbling on the card stock.  After it dried for 48 hours, I die cut.  The other card stock I used is Ice Rink which is the closest I got to Opal.  When you move it around, you can kind of pick up pink hues like Opals.

I really enjoyed this process.  I hope to see you at Birthstone Challenges.
