Tuesday Morning Sketches #722

Hello!  Thank you so much for stopping.  I appreciate your visit and I would love for you to leave me comment so I know that you were here.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and I know round cards aren't a popular sketch, but I really cannot wait to share my cards with you.

They are round and I am really wishing for cooler weather with Fall so I made pumpkin cards.  My cards feature mostly card and supplies from Tonic Studios.  I want to know so much and play so much with other craft mediums and Tonic is helping me learn and explore.  I know I still hold back, but check out my cards.  I'd love to know what you think!

I basically made both cards the same way using some oval dies.  That created my base.  Then pulling in embossing folders, dies from Spellbinder, embossing folders from Cuttlebug and embellishment mousse, pastes, drops, card, etc from Tonic here we go....

For this first card I used Ginger Pie card stock from Tonic and several embossing folders.  The leaves and vines are dies from Spellbinders and the sentiment is from Time Spent with Friends craft kit from Tonic Studios.  I also used Glitter paste from Tonic.  It really is a card with another large oval cut and adhered to the back that does open for a sentiment or message.  This will fit in an envelope made for a 5x7 card.

This next card is made using items created from a Fall bundle from Tonic.  They have such great sales and they get me EVERY TIME!  I used stencils in my stash and Embellishment Mousse in Indian Gold on the outer sections of the pumpkin.  The next 2 sections are Pearlescent card in Harvest Gold (I think) and the center section I embossed and for the first time used Gilding flakes.  It's a bit of mess, so please be kind.  It was my first time.  The vines and leaves are from another wonderful color of Pearlescent card.

I love how both cards turned out and I'm sure will be loved by the 2 special people that will be receiving them.

Please give this sketch a try.  I'll see you over at the TMS blog.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #721

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and I admit, it is a little similar to last week's sketch but different.  I also admit I had an easier time of this card than last week's.

My card features the Poppies Simon Says Stamp kit I got a few months ago.  I got this idea in my head and although not executed flawlessly (I had a little run in with super sticky tape) it didn't turn out too bad.  Pretty much what I had in mind.

I definitely wanted a window card and that part worked out well.  Maybe 5x7 card would have been a bit better, but I like this.  I took a card base and using my Spellbinders rectangle dies I cut out 2 windows and framed with using the same size rectangle die and a size up in a scalloped rectangle.  I knew I wanted to use some window sheets and emboss those.  So I cut a couple of window sheets and embossed using a 3D embossing folder also from Spellbinders.  The first window I had some trouble with and because I used Scor-Tape, I was committed - messed up - tried to correct - now it doesn't lay quite flat.  But the 2nd window worked out great.  So I'm going with it.

This is the card lying flat so you can see the front of the card better with it's windows.  And when you open the card you have this....

Here's a close up of the embossed window sheet.  It turned out so cool so that I'm going to try it on a bigger scale.

I was really please that this embossing folder kind of matched the poppies.

I hope you're inspired to do something fun with window sheets and this card sketch. We'll see you over at the blog!

Color My Heart Color Dare #562

Hello!  Thank you for your visit.  This week's Color My Heart Color Dare #562 is up and ready to go!

I chose to use all 3 in two shades of each color plus I added black and two shades of green..

I've seen cards on Instagram that create these really neat see through type cards.  I wanted to give a try.  So I made this!  I love how it turned out.  I used a Floral layer die (small die of the month) some black Nuvo drops and iridescent sequins.  This card was fun!  It took me a few hours but it was all about enjoying the process.

We'll see you at the challenge blog!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #720

Hello! Thanks for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and I'm going to be completely honest, it stumped me and I drew it!  I had such a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do.  Crazy how that happens sometimes.

This card, I let some old paper do the work and I'm still not entirely happy with this card.  What do you think?

This card features dies from Spellbinders but I really tried to make the paper stand out.  It's okay, still not my best work.  It's just too hot to be creative!  My electric bill is something of another world and I'm so tired of this heat.  You know what else I'm tired of?  My paper.  ** GASP!!  ** Did I really just say that?  Yes, I did.  I need a refresh.  So I've decided when it's not so dadgum (my Dad just came out of my mouth) hot, I'm going through all my old matstacks and scraping the scraps and donating the rest.  It's time for a refresh on the patterned paper.  Do you ever feel like that about your stash?

Please join us at TMS for this week's challenge - I really want to see what you create.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #719

Hello!  Thanks for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's another super easy sketch. Basic elements, easy adaptation.

My card features the Bouquets & Buttermilk set that I showcased 2 weeks ago.  To be transparent, I was off an extra day from work and I had a play with this one set.  I LOVE this set.  It is small and tedious, but I find that to be very therapeutic and for that day - just what I needed.  Okay friends - I LOVE THIS CARD!  Oh my goodness, this turned out so so nice.  It's a slightly loose interpretation of this week's sketch, but I LOVE THIS CARD!  I said that already, but....

This card is all things Tonic Studios!  At the base, I have stamps from Patterns & Prints Stamp Club.  Then I smeared (literally) Vintage Drops and Stone Drops. I love the gold with the rose colored of the Stone Drops.  The grainy-ness of Stone Drops is so cool!  I love it!  Then I added the grid die cut - which is my FAVORITE.  Then the jars from the Bouquets & Buttermilk stamp and die set - I die cut them from heavy vellum from Papertrey Ink.  I colored them by using Nuvo Crystal Drops (Caribbean Ocean) that I watered down.  Then built my bouquets.  This turned out a little more Fall themed than originally intended but still I squealed with delight when I finished this card.  I love love LOVE this card and I cannot wait to share it with a special friend who's birthday is coming up.  Or I'm keeping for myself - it's my birthday, too!

I do hope this inspires you and you will join us at TMS!  See you there!!

Color My Heart Color Dare #560

Hello!  Thank you for your visit.  This week's Color My Heart Color Dare #560 is up and ready to go!

Use at least 3 - I chose to use all but Harbour.  I added copper and black metallic specialty papers and a chocolate brown frame.

This card features the Wheelbarrow dies and the Garden Builder die sets.  This is a bit time consuming to get together but the process is such a joy!

I'll see you at the challenge blog!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #718

Hello friends.  Thank you for stopping by!  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's super easy and a whole lot of fun!  Originally when I designed this sketch, the intent was for me to try my hand at the bokeh technique.  Uhhh.... yeah, not my thing.  So I went literal!

My card features Springs & Stems dies from Spellbinders, a paper pack I've had for ages from My Mind's Eye called Cowboy (not sure why) and sealing wax and seal from Hobby Lobby.

So I guess this card really started out a bit on the masculine side but then I added pink flowers because the only sealing wax I have is pink. This wax melter kit is way cheaper at Hobby Lobby than what Spellbinders introduced last year.  And really, do you need to spend $60 to melt some wax when $10 works just as well?

This card was a lot of to make and really went super quick.

I hope to see you over at the TMS blog joining in the fun!  We'd love to have you leave comments, too.
