Tuesday Morning Sketches #671

Hello! Thank you for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up on Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's by Debbie.  It's a fun one, I think you're going to like using it.

My card features some dies from Spellbinders, Waffle Flower, sentiment stamp from Gina K and embossing folder from JoAnn's.  Before I start complaining, let me show you my card.

Now, for my complaint.  My mom ordered me the Total Package August monthly club for my birthday.  We bought it on 8/2.  It STILL hasn't been shipped.  Mind you, I did make this card a few days before posting.  I read on their site that they ship the monthly club by the end of the month.  Who wants strawberries on Sept 1st?  So I am mad.  Here's the summer kit (for the most part) that isn't here to make summer cards before summer is over.

But, when I ordered a couple of things from Waffle Flower, I got this little strawberry die as a thank you.  Well, I decided I probably had dies here that would allow me to copy the dies that will eventually be here.  I LOVE how this card turned out.  I am so happy and it was so fun.  So I turned my frown upside down!!

What is the lesson in this?  Look at your stuff already in your collection and make it new again!!

Now, please join us at Tuesday Morning Sketches - we'll see you there.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #670

Hello!   Thank you for visiting.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's another great one from Debbie.

My card features Oval Stitch & Border dies from Spellbinders, stitched flower is from another stitchable die set from Spellbinders, the embossing folder is also from Spellbinders and the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Brushstroke Messages.

So let me tell a secret on myself.  When I'm stuck in long meetings at work that I am not leading, I can't multi-task on work stuff - having those voices in my ear makes it hard to concentrate on work, so I do other stuff instead.  For this one particular call, I die cut the oval, flower and leaves and stitched.  I did a sort of ombre effect on the oval.  I am very pleased with the results.

I did emboss the white card base and the lavender card stock piece at the same time so that lined up perfectly.  It shifted a little but not so much that I felt like I needed to start over.  Before gluing the lavender piece on to the base I wrapped some dark purple floss around the panel.  Glued and then added my focal point.  This die set cuts out 2 different sizes of ovals and both inside and outside the image cuts.  I chose to cut it out and then used the outside cut lines to cut a purple mat.  I stamped the sentiment and then glued the stitched piece to the purple panel.  I love this effect.

I do hope you'll join us at the TMS blog and leave the DT some love.  And since you'll already be there, why not join us!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #669

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by!  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  I think it's fun.  Who doesn't love a card with stuff flying out of an envelope!

My card features balloon die and sentiment die from iCrafter.  The envelope is my own design.  I also used the July embossing folder of the month from Spellbinders and tiny bow die from Mama Elephant.

I had a lot of birthday cards to make for the end of July birthdays so I made them all the same.  Mass production, well 3, at it's best.  LOL

Tuesday Morning Sketches #668

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  This one is by Debbie and I really enjoyed making my card with this sketch.

My card features Build a Birdhouse Summer and Tweet Sentiments stamp set from Spellbinders and background stamp from Hero Arts.

For the sand I used fine grit sandpaper from the dollar store.  I did ink it up a little.  The starfish and shell I also inked up to color.  This was such an easy card to put together so much fun.  You'd never know this was supposed to be a birdhouse.  My son said I should have put a lightbulb in it.  Now that would be cool to make this an interactive card that did light up!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #667

Hello and thank you for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  I had fun stretching it a bit!

My card features dies and an embossing folder from Spellbinders...

My card is a bit whited washed so you can't see the embossing.  Someday I'll learn to take great pictures like everyone else does.  Anyway, the card traders group I belong to has a current challenge to make Christmas slimline cards.  So this is what I came up with.  It's probably a little overboard on the poinsettias but they're so pretty!

In this picture you can see the embossing a bit better.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #665

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and this one I think is fun because it can be just a regular card or an interactive card.

My card features an embossing folder from Spellbinders, Lindy's Magicals powders and a flower border die from Spellbinders.  I was inspired by a technique that Jennifer McGuire shared recently.  Every now and then she can get me - either inspirationally or financially.  This time it was both!

So these powders are cool!  Messy, but cool.  This technique was really fun.  Basically you put some of these powders onto the folder with a paint brush and spritz with water and then emboss.  She did some other stuff to her backgrounds.  I just used two of the powders.  I was so surprised by the little bits of other color in there!  So neat.

I know my card needs a sentiment, but I couldn't find the perfect one and needed to get this posted so I'll figure that out later.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #664

Hi!  Thanks for stopping by.  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's a fun one by Debbie.  Thank you for all the well wishes, too.  I am better, still coughing a bit but it's improving, too.

I have to admit that I struggled a bit with this card.  I guess I just wasn't really sure where to take the ideas I had swimming in my head.  But this card features Everyday Bouquet turnabout stamp set from Concord & 9th, bird/branch dies from Spellbinders, rectangle dies and sentiment die from Pink & Main.  Oh and an OG embossing folder from Cuttlebug.

I think I should have made the bird darker so that it would stand out a bit better against the busy background.  But overall I had fun making this card.  It took awhile but only because I kept getting distracted.  I should know better than to put on a favorite movie.

Please head on over to the TMS blog and join us.  Leave some love for the team!  And particularly to Debbie for the fun sketch.
