Tuesday Morning Sketches #492

Hello!  And thank you for stopping by my blog.  The last revisited sketch is up at the Tuesday Morning Sketches and this is Patti's pick.  I have to say, this is a pretty great sketch.  I challenge you to not take it so literally or if you do, really make it pop.

My card features a past stamp set from one of Simon Says Stamps monthly kits.  I think it was probably June or July.  Remember when I said I need to be careful with money?  Really think about the kits and will I use them.  Well, this one I should have re-thought.  I think I liked the extras better.  If anyone wants this stamp set - let's talk.

My neighbor's daughter turned 14 last week and she's really into marine biology so this card is fitting for her.  I did some gorgeous ink blending using Bristol Smooth paper and 3 Distress Oxide Inks - Chipped Sapphire, Weathered Wood and Twisted Citron.  I love how my blending turned out.  Then using a circle die I cut out 3 apertures.  I took another piece of Bristol Smooth and put it behind my inked panel and with a pencil I lightly traced the circles so that I knew where to stamp.  The mermaid actually spans the left and right circles but I hope I'm giving the illusion of one mermaid swimming down and only her tail is in view and the other is swimming by so you can see her sweet face.  Then I added a cute little sea turtle.  I colored these with Zig Clean Color real brush markers and a water brush.

I did cut my ink blended panel using the wonky stitch die by Kat Scrappiness.  I embossed the sentiment onto a strip of black card stock using Hero Arts White detail powder.  I stamped just a few more elements from the stamp set on to the inked panel.  Ella loved it!

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by my blog. The latest revisited sketch is up on the TMS blog - this one is by Debbie.

My card features the small die of the month club from Spellbinders - I think from December.  But honestly, I can't remember which month.  Time runs into each other for me.  I die cut these flowers and leaves from watercolor paper and then colored them with Distress inks.

The centers of the flowers are Crystal Drops by Nuvo.  I also used the eyelet coverplate from Pink and Main.  I think this card screams Spring!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #490

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by. The latest favorite sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and this week is Lori's favorite - but if I'm honest, it's another favorite of mine, too.

My card features the new Everyday Bouquet turnabout stamp set from Concord and 9th.  I splurged a bit and treated myself to the toolkit they released earlier this month.  That beautiful box contains some really great stuff!!

I'm still stuck on this blue and gray color palette.  I love it!  The turnabout was stamped with Sea Glass, Surf Blue and Fog inks by Simon Says Stamp and Soft Stone by Papertrey Ink.  I'm writing to SSS about the Sea Glass ink, I'm thinking it's not supposed to be light.  I stamped it 3 times and you still can't see it very well.  The flowers are dies that also came in the toolkit.  I die cut them from white and then used Peacock Feathers and Pumice Stone Oxide inks to colors those.  I had them leftover from a previous project that I was playing with.

I did color a piece of card stock with Surf Blue which is almost the same as Peacock Feathers.  I used that to make the mat piece and the little square element.  I didn't realize until I cut the white piece that it actually cuts a teeny tiny frame so I colored that with Fog ink.

Finally, the banner pieces I cut from scallop border die from Simon Says Stamp and the flag piece is embossed with a die from CC Designs.  The sentiment is from another Concord and 9th stamp set.

Hello!  Thank you for stopping by.  LJ's sketch pick is up at the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog and this one is a great sketch by Debbie.

My card features stamps from the Mini-Wreath Builder set by Gina K and a background stamp that was in the August Simon Says Stamp kit.

This card was fun to make - I was actually just stamping mindlessly.  I had nothing going on in my head, no ideas forming, just stamping.  At first I was just playing with the little wreath and I think I was video chatting with my son.  I wasn't even really paying attention to what colors I used.  I used 2 shades of gray, a beautiful purple and this really nice blue.  Then I grabbed a couple of my Gelly Roll pens and added some dots.  I love the little roses and it made me think of the background stamp and I don't think I'd used but maybe one time before.  So staying with the color theme I stamped my panels.  I placed them onto a scratch piece of card stock to cut the circle and then adhered them to a gray A2 size card base.  Then added a little bow using white/gray baker's twine.  I think I finished the card when I was Facetiming with my sister the next day.

It was quite relaxing to make!

My card features lots of dies.  Some of the newest ones from Concord and 9th, flowers are from Spellbinders, stitched oval and the tag are from CC Designs.  I die cut them all out of white card stock and colored them using various colors of Distress Oxide inks.  The sentiment is from Believe Script by Pink and Main.

In hindsight, I do wish I'd embossed the tag panel to give this card a bit more texture.  But other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.  My go to colors lately are teal, turquoise and purple.

Thank you for stopping by.  This week's challenge on the Facebook group "I'm going to use up my stuff 2019" is watercolor.  These were the easiest cards to make, especially using the sketch from CAS(e) This Sketch. 

This isn't exactly how I started to make this card.  I intended to emboss the sentiment but there was just way too much pressure in the Gemini that it cut part of the paper and the rubber mat!  So I just went with it, cut the sentiment - which is a small die of the month from Spellbinders.   I used Distress Ink and Ranger watercolor paper.  The colors are used are Shaded Lilac, Evergreen Bough and Peacock Feathers.

And since I made one, I decided to make two.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #487

Hello!   Thank you for stopping by.  This week's revisited sketch pick is Debbie's pick and it's another sketch by Janice Melton.  I actually did two cards with this sketch.  One of my cards, the first one I'm sharing, I actually started a few weeks ago and finally finished it on Sunday morning.

Before I get to my card - I had such a wonderful time with my son home.  I miss him already.  He left in the wee hours Saturday morning and he got back to Japan Sunday night.  I am so thankful he got safely and all I can say is I'm hoping this next year and half goes by as quickly as this past year and a half did.  I want him stateside.

So this first card features papers from a past Simon Says Stamp kit.  I can't remember which month.  My card also features dies from previous months Spellbinders small die kits of the month.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp that I bought during Die-cember.  I'm not real pleased with these dies, but I have them so I need to use them.  I lightly embellished with some Nuvo Drops.

Now, as I said I made two cards with this sketch.  I did this while my son was at Universal with friends for a couple of days.  I belong to a challenge group on Facebook and the challenge was an animal on the card.  So I pulled out my old There She Goes stamps set and I also used some pattern stamps from Sweet n Sassy.  This is a one layer card!

Yep - only one layer and a whole lotta thought!  It's not great but I learned a lot and I will work on perfecting this technique.  I used a piece of 110 lb card stock cut to a standard A2 size card.  I cut a piece of masking paper down to 4 x 5 1/4 and put it on the card.  I colored the unmasked part with some light blue ink.  Then I removed that mask and cut the circles.  I then stamped the plaid purple square.  I then masked it and stamped the border.  I masked off the border and stamped the yellow gingham pattern.  I then pulled off the outside circle and replaced the overall mask back on lining up the circle.  I then rubbed the pink ink on - this didn't turn out quite how I wanted.  But moving on, I removed the inner circle and stamped my focal image.  I tried to add in a bit of gray and proceeded to mess up thin lines so they became what you see.  I drew in all the black lines and added a sentiment from Lawn Fawn.  As I said, it's not great but hey - I gave it a go.
