Tuesday Morning Sketches #659

Hello!  Thank you so much for stopping!  The latest sketch is up at Tuesday Morning Sketches and it's a pretty fun one.

For my card traders challenge group we were challenged with making a Summer themed card.  What reminds you of summer?  Well, for me summer means it's even hotter in Florida (and rainy and humid) so that's when it's best to hang out at the pool.  I, personally don't have a pool but I've been known to stick my feet in a bucket of cool water and pretend.

My card features flip flops that I took from a library pocket card svg by Lori Whitlock.  I did copy the base of the flip flop and sized it down so I could layer the solid piece with the cute patterned piece.  I printed some digital paper that I've had forever and then put the design on my design space on the Silhouette Cameo.  I didn't measure accurately so when I cut 4 sets out, two of them didn't have the fish on the bottom part of the design. Talk about a happy accident.  I pulled out my jar of washi and put on 3 stripes and we've got ourselves a really designer pair of flip flops here!

Then I embossed a piece of gray card stock with this brick/subway tile looking embossing folder that my sister sent me.  I'm pretty sure it's from CTMH.  I spritzed it with Distress Stain in Tumbled Glass to give the look of wet cement. Then I cut the corner out of it - the die I used which is a border die I got from Simon Says Stamp (I think) - it did put the angle on the other side of the sketch, but that's okay.  Then I added the 1/4" strips I cut away to the edges to make it look like the edge of a pool.  The "pool" was created using white card stock and blending on Distress Oxide ink with zero technique and all.  I used Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean.  Then I painted Glossy Accents all over.

It's a fun card and it screams summer - pools and flip flops - that says it all for me!

Anyway, I appreciate you stopping by and I hope to see you over at the TMS blog joining us.
