Tuesday Morning Sketches #44

Good Morning!  Welcome to your Tuesday.  I am so glad that you're here.  I have a simply gorgeous card to share with.  Boy am I humble!  LOL  But I am really excited about this card.

This week is sponsored by Stef of Glitterbabe's Art Shop.  I am so proud of Stef - she was designing her own line of digi-stamps for The Stamping Boutique (love Tracy's images) but then she stepped out on her own.  She has a tremendous talent.  She was so very kind in sharing some images with me and my team.  I chose to use Little Ballerina.  With recital fast approaching and my daughter in her 5th year of ballet, this set was the obvious choice.

The theme of recital this is year is Las Vegas.  The ballet number that Hollyanne is in is called Waltz of the Flowers.  I colored this image to resemble her costume for that number.  It is this lovely burgundy and black with lots of toule.  I started this card with a mat from Penny Duncan.  This is a Fleur de Lis frame SVG file that is absolutely gorgeous!

I am so excited that I have the day off today because my Cricut Expression is supposed to arrive today!  I have sold enough (but still more to sell) of my stuff to purchase an Expression - my Mom can finally have her baby bug back.  Come on UPS Guy!

Saturday Share

Good Morning!  I hope your weekend is going well.  I working this weekend - but I did enjoy a couple of days off during the week.  Today's card is my 2nd for the sneak peek week at Ethereal Forest Designs.  I do hope that you have enjoyed the cards & projects shared throughout the week by Darsie and the rest of the team.  As I said, we are featuring the sentiments sets and I certainly have been inspired!

For this card, I kept things pretty simple.  No embellishments, bling or bumpies.  I did this so you can see that is only takes a few materials and one great sentiment to create a card that will make your recipient feel special.  I used EFD's Giraffe Sentiments.  I also used another fun SVG file from Wanda's Cards and Crafts.  This is actually a card - the file even has perforations to make folding easier.  I have to admit, for my card here I didn't want that part of it but I don't know how to make it not cut the back part of the card.  So I cut it off and layered it onto my card front.

Ethereal Forest Monday

Good Morning!  Happy Monday.  I do hope your week is off to a good start.

The card I have to share with you today from Ethereal Forest Designs is the 2nd installment of sneak peek week.  Darsie kicked it off yesterday with a stunning card!  All week long we are featuring the wonderful sentiment sets so you can see just how versatile they are.  They can be an accent to your card, but they do create a very pretty focal image.

This image is from the All Occasions digi-stamp set.  I colored the word "Sunshine" with a yellow Copic marker to highlight it.  I also used flowers that I got from Michael's.  They were regularly $6.99, but they were on the clearance rack for $3.99 - but when the clerk scanned them, they were only $1.99!!  Can't beat that!!  I also discovered another great place for SVG files.  The black mat was created using a SVG cut found at Wanda's Cards and Crafts.  I grabbed a few of her files yesterday to try them out.  Fun!

Card Share

Good Morning!  I love low key weekends.  Actually, today will be a little busy with laundry to get done and Hollyanne has a dance class this afternoon.  But I decided to treat the kids to dinner at a favorite (and cheap) place.  But Saturday was cold and rainy and a great day to stay in my craft room!

Last night Busy Beauties Boutique had a release party and I scored a free image from the sweet, sweet Carolyn.  So I set out to play.  I also discovered that I could join her challenge, too.  Although, I don't think my card turned out like rubbish, there are LOTS of scraps that should've been thrown away, involved.

I followed the sketch from The Sweet Stop.  I think this is probably the first time I've ever played along with their challenge and not used a Sweet n Sassy image.  I think it's OK, just this once.  Ha!  I also added blossoms which fits the Our Creative Corner challenge.  And as I mentioned, it fits Busy Beauties Creation Station challenge using bits of scrap papers and ribbon.

Top Note Tag

Good Morning! Happy Monday to you!

I have just a quick post today. I recently signed up for a tag swap, so I decided it was probably best to get to work on them. They aren't due til April, but we all know how time flies! Anyway, I signed up for a Top Note size tag and a round one. The round one I had hoped that I would get done yesterday, but it ended not being a very good day for me, so.... Anyway, I don't own the Top Note die but I created one using Cricut and SCAL software. I had these tags cut, both layers in about 5 minutes or less! Easy!!



Isn't it pretty? I think so anyway. I used Not Quite Navy as my base and I had this pretty paper left over from a swap I did awhile back. It was also time to use these flowers that I have been hoarding since that swap I just mentioned. I used the Cricut with the Home Accents cartridge to cut the word Dream.


Here's a close up of the image I used, this is from Pond Pals from Sweet n Sassy Stamps. I "colored" the wings with gold Stickles. The trick with keeping the wings curled is curl them up and then apply the Stickles. The moisture that the Stickles puts into the paper will dry the wings into position.

I had a lot of fun with these and hopefully I'll have the round ones done soon to share with you. Thanks for stopping by!

Thursdays with Lindsay

Good Morning! I am so giddy with excitement to share with you today!! I don't remember if I shared that hubby, well the kids, gave me a Slice for Christmas. I decided I didn't like it very much, so I sent it back. What I got to replace it was SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software. My Mom bought a Cricut years ago when it was first introduced. But we didn't learn a whole lot about it. Made a few basic things, collected a few cartridges - but it pretty much just sat around and collected dust.

Well, I've been seeing these cool things on Lindsay's blog and Tamara's blog called SVG cuts. So I asked if I could get this software that will let you cut from your computer to your Cricut. I finally got it, set it up and did all the other little things to get this going and after only one failed attempt, I got it to work. It was a good thing no one was around because I'm sure if there had been, I would've been committed. My dog doesn't care, she's too happy to stay wrapped up in her blanket. So here's the first card I made:


My first shaped card ever!! Lindsay told me about a site (here) that has TrueType fonts for free and to grab this particular one because it's dingbats for all these super shapes. It's just a little smaller than a standard size card and eventually I will get the proper measurements figured out. The images are from Lindsay's newest set called Love Grows Here.

Lindsay also offers these really cool SVG's to use with your Cricut and SCAL. Not to worry if you don't have these things, because she also sends a template for printing so you can cut them out. So she has a new mailbox SVG that I just had to try.


Adorable, right?! What a super idea for little packaging for a gift to give to a loved one, friend, teacher - whoever! Love this kind of happy mail!
